May is National Heritage Month, and Cebu celebrates it every year with Gabii sa Kabilin, a one-of-a-kind nighttime cultural event in which museums and heritage sites welcome visitors from dusk until midnight.
In its 18th year, GSK returned with the vibrant theme Batan-ong Bahandi (Young Treasures), highlighting the youth as vital stewards of our cultural legacy. This one-night celebration invites Cebuanos to reconnect with their roots through an immersive experience of art, history, and tradition.
Spanning 22 museums and heritage sites across the bustling cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, and Talisay, GSK 2025 featured performances, exhibits, food fairs, and community led programs—many curated or performed by young creatives. Highlights include a mural competition, the fan-favorite Heritage Hunt, and interactive activities.
For one night, participants were granted a one-time access to all sites with tickets priced at P300 (with unlimited bus rides and tartanilla access) or P200 for general access to all venues.
Organized by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Gabii sa Kabilin (GSK) remains a cultural bridge between generations. This year, the message is clear: the future of heritage rests in young hands. Through their passion, history comes alive. Step into the night and celebrate the stories that make Cebu’s heritage worth sharing—again and again.
