Sometimes, we need some one-on-one time with ourselves. Here are some of my favorite spots for quality “me” time.

We often grow up believing that that relationships complete us happiness arrives when someone else does. But before we look outward, it’s worth learning how to enjoy our own company first. Even in a relationship, the ability to savor solitude is essential. After all, we’re the only ones who can show up for ourselves every single day.
When life feels loud or overwhelming, a solo date can be the reset you didn’t know you needed. These are the places I return to when I want to slow down, think clearly, or exist without rushing.
BRICKWOOD BUSAY

When I want to treat myself to good food with an even better view, I head up to Brickwood. Their Brickwood Oven Pizza paired with a cocktail is my usual order, best enjoyed while taking in the sweeping cityscape. There’s always a quiet corner away from the main dining area perfect for sinking into the cool mountain air and letting the view do the grounding.

Location: Cebu Transcentral Highway, Busay, Cebu City
Hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 5pm-10pm
AMANA SPA

A solo date can also mean slowing down. Amana Spa has become one of my favorite ways to unwind. The minimalist, softly lit interiors instantly calm the senses. I usually book the Soft Glow massage (P850 for 60 minutes), a gentle lotion-based treatment that relaxes without the sticky feel of oil ideal for anyone who prefers a light, soothing reset.

Location: Mandani Bay, Mandaue City
Hours: Daily, 11am-11pm
HABHAB CAFÉ

For long, lingering coffee dates with myself, I go to Habhab Café. It’s open-air and overlooks Silot Bay, with the sound of waves as a natural soundtrack. I like timing my visits around sunset, when the sky turns soft pink before slipping into night. It’s the kind of place that invites reflection without trying too hard.

Location: Silot Bay, Liloan, Cebu
Hours: Daily, 11am-9pm
POKÉ BOWLS

On days when self-care looks like choosing something nourishing, I jog around Mandani Bay and reward myself with a poké bowl after. They serve fresh, customizable bowls inspired by Hawaiian flavors. My usual: salmon with mayo-sriracha, half rice, half greens – simple, satisfying, and exactly what my body needs after a run.

Location: Mandani Bay, Mandaue City
Hours: Daily, 11am-10pm
NAMOLO TRAIL

When I need clarity, I hike. Namolo Trail is one of the most accessible short hikes in Cebu a 20-30 minute walk from Paseo Arcenas in Banawa, leading toward Celestial Garden. The reward is an unobstructed view of the city, best enjoyed sitting quietly, breathing deeply, and letting the moment settle. It’s my go-to place to reset and return to myself.

Location: via R. Duterte St., Cebu City
Open: 24 hours
Whether you’re single or taken, there’s something liberating about choosing yourself — intentionally, gently, and without apology. A solo date isn’t about being alone; it’s about reconnecting with the person you spend your whole life with: you.
