In the vibrant tapestry of Cebu’s culture and heritage, the fusion of Catholic devotion and tourism takes the form of the Archdiocese of Cebu’s Pilgrim’s Passport. Launched as a main attraction for the Jubilee Year celebration, this campaign invites the faithful to embark on a journey that is not only spiritual but also a celebration of history, architecture, and community.
Much like how a traveler’s passport opens doors to new sights, sounds, and experiences, the Pilgrim’s Passport guides participants through the spiritual journey of visiting significant churches in the Archdiocese of Cebu. Each church offers a stamp as a tangible reminder of the journey and a symbol of one’s faith-filled commitment.
Rooted in the Catholic tradition of pilgrimage, it’s a modern twist on a centuries-old practice, much like the Camino De Santiago that takes the faithful on a trek from France to Spain. The Pilgrim’s Passport transforms the act of visiting sacred sites into a meaningful and interactive experience by taking participants on a tour of selected churches, each a treasure trove of history, art, and faith. From the iconic Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, home of the beloved Señor Santo Niño, to the serene charm of centuries-old parish churches scattered across the province, the journey reveals the deep roots of Catholicism in Cebu. These sacred spaces showcase religious devotion and the artistry of generations past, evident in intricate altars, soaring bell towers, and timeless murals.

What makes the Pilgrim’s Passport particularly unique is its ability to bridge faith and tourism. Cebu, already renowned for its pristine beaches and vibrant festivals, now beckons visitors to explore a different kind of beauty—its spiritual and architectural heritage. This initiative encourages Cebuanos and visitors from around the Philippines and even the world to immerse themselves in the stories behind each church, deepening their appreciation for the province’s rich cultural identity.
It’s an opportunity for the devout to enrich their faith, especially during the Jubilee of Hope. For travelers, it’s an authentic way to connect with the soul of Cebu. The passport transforms every visit into a meaningful journey, inspiring conversations about history, art, and faith. The Pilgrim’s Passport also fosters community between fellow devotees by sharing stories, prayers, and meals with fellow travelers, creating bonds that will surely last well beyond the Jubilee Year. The initiative also serves as a platform for parishes to showcase their unique traditions, from local feasts to folk dances, making every visit a celebration of faith and culture.
As the Jubilee of Hope unfolds, the Pilgrim’s Passport is more than just an event—it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of Cebu’s Catholic community. It bridges the past and the present, blending devotion with discovery and leaving participants with a deeper connection to their faith and the beauty of Cebu.
Whether you are a devout Catholic, a heritage enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, the Pilgrim’s Passport invites you to see Cebu in a new light— one where faith and culture intertwine to create an unforgettable journey.
The Archdiocese of Cebu’s Pilgrim Passport for the Jubilee Year serves as a spiritual guide and companion for the faithful visiting the designated Jubilee Churches. This sacred time encourages reflection, prayer, and a deeper connection to the Church’s mission.

The passport includes a list of Jubilee Churches and dedicated spaces for pilgrims to record their visits, complete with stamps to commemorate their pilgrimage. This meaningful tool fosters devotion and unity among pilgrims as they journey through the Archdiocese during the Jubilee celebration.
The Pilgrim Passport integrates with the Hallow App, an international prayer platform for added spiritual enrichment. By scanning the QR code inside the cover, pilgrims can access curated prayers and reflections for an immersive and prayerful experience recited by Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma himself. Additionally, this initiative plays a significant role in the mission, as its proceeds will help fund the various initiatives for the Jubilee celebrations.
After each church visit, pilgrims should have their passports stamped at the parish office of the respective Jubilee Church. Each church has a unique stamp for this purpose. Pilgrims who visit at least 15 Jubilee Churches can request a Pilgrimage Certificate. Those who complete visits to all 31 Jubilee Churches will receive an additional token.
The Pilgrim’s Passport is spearheaded by the Cebu Commission on Worship (COW) and the Cebu Archdiocesan Digital Communications Ministry (CADComM). You can get your passport for only P199 at the Parish Office of the designated Jubilee Churches; Commission on Worship, Legazpi St., Cebu City, beside Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Office, 234 D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City.
